Bulletin details

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents and large breaking waves expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Hatteras Island. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Sunday. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 2 PM EDT Wednesday. For the Beach Hazards Statement, from 8 AM EDT Sunday through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Ocean overwash impacts will continue through at least Tuesday, especially around high tide, in areas where dunes have been compromised. Dangerous shore break can throw a swimmer or surfer head first into the bottom causing neck and back injuries. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tide levels will continue to rise with a King Tide Cycle in place through the upcoming work-week. The morning high tide will be the highest of the two daily tides. King Tides peak Tuesday and Wednesday.
