At 605 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across Lauderdale and Colbert Counties. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the these areas. Emergency Management officials have reported flash flooding in Muscle Shoals at the beside the intersection of Woodward and Avalon Avenues. The parking lot was flooded here, and the drainage in the culvert backed up again, adding several feet of floodwaters moving quickly at the south end of the parking lot. Also: other flooded roadways were reported in Sheffield near North Jackson Highway and Hatch Boulevard. Please heed any barricades in these areas and don't drive through floodwaters! HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Killen, Cherokee, Littleville, Leighton, St. Florian, Underwood-Petersville, Waterloo, Pride Landing, Oakland, Red Rock, Barton, Posey Loop, New Bethel, Colbert Heights, Northwest Alabama Regional Airport and Mt Hester.
