Heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Gold Mountain Burn Scar. Debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety. Climb to higher ground. Avoid Cow Creek drainages.

FFWGJT The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... East Central Ouray County in southwestern Colorado... * Until 800 PM MDT. * At 659 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the Gold Mountain burn scar. Between 0.3 and 0.8 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Cow Creek. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... mainly rural areas of East Central Ouray County
