Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.

At 847 PM EDT, Thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen over the last 2 hours. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1/2 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing, but should gradually subside over the next hour. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury, Milford, Shelton, Peekskill, Southbury, New Canaan, Mount Kisco, Mahopac, Lake Carmel, Sherman, Brewster, Newtown, Fairfield, Greenwich, Stratford, Trumbull and Westport.
