FFWCAE The National Weather Service in Columbia has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... East Central Columbia County in east central Georgia... North Central Richmond County in east central Georgia... * Until 630 PM EDT. * At 429 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Evans, Martinez, Village Plaza Shopping Center, Augusta Mall, Augusta National Golf Club, Daniel Field, Summerville, Midtown, Waverly, Westwick, Forest Hills, Windy Ridge Estates, Westover Memorial Park, Village at Riverwatch Shopping Center, Westport, Savannah Rapids Park, Eisenhower Park, Evans Medical Center and Harrisburg. This includes the following highways... Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 194 and 201. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 3.
