A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Bulletin details

At 522 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. 1.5 to 3 inches of rain have fallen on already saturated soils. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring, with broadcast media reporting several flooded streets and basements in Paxton. HAZARD...Significant flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar, automated gauges and broadcast media reports. IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding. Possible flooding of structures. Possible flooding of highways. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Paxton, Gibson City, Elliott and Clarence.
