FFWRNK The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Western Stokes County in north central North Carolina... Eastern Surry County in northwestern North Carolina... Southwestern Patrick County in southwestern Virginia... * Until 530 AM EDT Sunday. * At 1126 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms have produced heavy rain in eastern Surry County, western Stokes County, and southwest Patrick County. Between 4 and locally 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. The heaviest rainfall has occurred in the Ararat River basin, which is now quickly rising near the town of Mt. Airy. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
