Northern Otero County in south central New Mexico... * Until 415 PM MDT. * At 210 PM MDT, gauge reports indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Salt Fire Burn Scar. Over a half inch of rain has fallen in about a half hour, and rainfall rates up to 4 inches an hour have been briefly observed. Portions of Highway 70 between Apache Summit and the Lincoln County line may be impacted. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Salt Fire Burn Scar. SOURCE...Gauges reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Salt Fire Burn Scar. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Snow Canyon, Bear Canyon, Fence Canyon and Portions of US Highway 70 between Apache Summit and the Otero-Lincoln County Line.
