What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

North Central Greene County in east Tennessee... Northern Hamblen County in east Tennessee... Southwestern Hawkins County in east Tennessee... Southeastern Union County in east Tennessee... * Until 145 PM EDT. * At 1202 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Washburn TN and Maynardville. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Rogersville, Maynardville, Rutledge, Bean Station, Russellville, Luttrell, Bulls Gap, Thorn Hill and Mooresburg.
