What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

FFWSLC The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Southern Kane County in southern Utah... * Until 1030 AM MDT. * At 834 AM MDT, gauge reports indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. The gauge on the Paria River at US-89 just reported a 429 cfs flood wave. This will continue to shift down the Paria River, through Paria Canyon to the Arizona border. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Gauges reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons, normally dry washes, streams, creeks, and rivers. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Buckskin Gulch, Wire Pass, and the Paria River Canyon.
