This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Babylon Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated through slot canyons and steep terrain below Dark Canyon..climb to safety. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

FFWGJT The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... The Babylon burn scar in... Central San Juan County in southeastern Utah... * Until 430 PM MDT. * At 134 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Babylon Burn Scar over Dark Canyon. Between 0.5 and 0.8 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Babylon Burn Scar over Dark Canyon. SOURCE...Radar indicated.
