* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Talkeetna River at the Talkeetna Railroad Bridge and Upstream of Talkeetna, in addition to the Susitna River near Sunshine. * WHEN...Until 315 PM AKDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 200 PM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water levels from heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, especially near Talkeetna River at the Talkeetna Railroad Bridge. Between 3.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.3 inches are possible. Rainfall will move out of the advisory area this afternoon. However, drainage from prior heavy rainfall will continue to cause flooding through this evening. For Susitna River near Sunshine: At 12:00pm the stage was 21.7 feet. Flood Stage is 24.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 22.5 feet is expected around 10:00am Friday. For Talkeetna River Upstream of Talkeetna: At 12:45pm the stage was 11.6 feet. Flood Stage is 12.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 12.3 feet is expected around 10:00pm Thursday. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
