Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Eastern Santa Cruz County in southeastern Arizona... * WHEN...Until 315 PM MST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry washes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 1214 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.3 and 0.8 inches of rain have fallen. This includes the following streams and drainages... Turkey Creek, Harshaw Creek, Sonoita Creek, Mud Spring Canyon, Santa Cruz River, Babocomari River, Gardner Canyon and Cienega Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.7 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Patagonia, Sonoita, Elgin and Canelo. This includes the following highways... Route 82 between mile markers 18 and 45. Route 83 between mile markers 10 and 36. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
