What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways and underpasses. Additionally, country roads, farmlands along the banks of creeks, and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northwestern Elbert County in east central Colorado... Northeastern Douglas County in northeastern Colorado... * WHEN...Until 445 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry creeks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 139 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This may cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. This includes the following streams and drainages... Gold Creek, Newlin Gulch, Piney Creek, Dry Creek, Running Creek, Willow Creek, Cherry Creek, Coal Creek, Bayou Gulch, East Plum Creek, Happy Canyon Creek, Lake Gulch, East Cherry Creek, Kinney Creek and Kiowa Creek. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eastern Castle Rock, Parker, Elizabeth, The Pinery, Franktown, Ponderosa Park, Castle Pines and Castlewood Canyon.
