What the bulletin says to do

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Northern Jasper County in northwestern Indiana... Lake IN County in northwestern Indiana... Northeastern Newton County in northwestern Indiana... Southern Porter County in northwestern Indiana... * WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 600 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue. This mornings thunderstorms will exit the advisory area by 7 AM, but additional rain is expected later today which may redevelop flooding issues. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Merrillville, Schererville, Hobart, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, Cedar Lake, Lowell, DeMotte, Hebron, Wheatfield, Griffith, Dyer, St. John, Lynwood, Lakes of the Four Seasons, Winfield, Roselawn and Kouts. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
