What is happening
What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Where: A portion of south central Kentucky, including the following counties, McCreary, Wayne and Whitley. When: Until 130 AM EDT.
What the bulletin says to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kentucky, including the following counties, McCreary, Wayne and Whitley. * WHEN...Until 130 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 1019 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will allow minor flooding to persist or worsen. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Williamsburg, Whitley City, Stearns, Blue Heron, Marshes Siding, Pine Knot, Co-Operative, Strunk, Ritner, Slavens, Kidds Crossing, Hollyhill, Duckrun, Griffin, Great Meadows Campsites, Rockeybranch, Coopersville, Parmleysville, Bounty and Barrier.
