What is happening

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Where: A portion of northern Michigan, including the following counties, Alcona, Alpena and Montmorency. When: Until 1030 PM EDT.

What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northern Michigan, including the following counties, Alcona, Alpena and Montmorency. * WHEN...Until 1030 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 721 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Alpena, Ossineke, Lachine, The Town Of Hubbard Lake, Long Rapids, Hillman, Spratt, Ossineke Township, Fletcher Pond, Hubbard Lake, Royston, Spruce, Lost Lake Woods, Negwegon State Park, Black River, Canada Creek Ranch, Devils Lake and Clear Lake State Park. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
