What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service Blacksburg Facebook page and on X.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...South Central Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina... Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina... Southwestern Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 330 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 936 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of moderate to heavy rain moving north across the area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen since early Saturday afternoon. This includes the following streams and drainages... Laurel Fork, Left Prong Stony Fork, Norris Fork, Dutch Creek, Grassy Creek, Flat Branch, Mill Creek, Brushy Fork, Dugger Creek, Fall Creek, Meat Camp Creek, Elk Creek and Little Dugger Creek. Additional rainfall amounts up to 3 inches are expected over the area through early Sunday mornikng. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Boone, Blowing Rock, Deep Gap, Todd, Foscoe, Seven Devils and Aho. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
