* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...South Central Cabarrus County in the piedmont of North Carolina... East Central Mecklenburg County in the piedmont of North Carolina... North Central Union NC County in the piedmont of North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 509 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated torrential rain due to slow-moving thunderstorms have recently departed the Midland to Mint Hill to Fairview areas. Additional heavy rainfall is not expected over the next few hours. However, 1-2.5" of rainfall occurred in less than 60 minutes, resulting in excessive runoff. This runoff is likely overwhelming drainage ditches and impacting poorly-draining roadways and intersections with nuisance flooding, especially in the Midland vicinity.
