* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Carteret County in eastern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 1245 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 947 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Morehead City, Harkers Island, Cape Carteret, North River, Straits, Smyrna, Marshallberg, Davis, Pine Knoll Shores, Wildwood, Otway, Williston, Broad Creek, Open Grounds Farm, Bogue, Stacy, Bettie, Michael J Smith Airport, Fort Macon State Park and Oceana Pier. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
