* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northern Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 1055 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. This includes the following streams and drainages... Church Branch, Cove Creek, Darnell Creek, Camp Branch, East Prong Roaring River, Harris Creek, Fish Dam Creek, Bee Tree Branch, Cane Creek, Gambill Creek, Basin Creek, Big Sandy Creek and Clear Branch. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mc Grady, Wilbar, Traphill, Halls Mills, Mulberry, Millers Creek and Hays. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
