What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Where: A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union. When: Until 545 AM EDT.

What the bulletin says to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union. * WHEN...Until 545 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 257 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected. Some locations that could experience flooding include... Newark, Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, Plainfield, Bloomfield, Hackensack, Linden, Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn, Rutherford, Secaucus, Ramsey, Ringwood and Pompton Lakes. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
