What the bulletin says to do
Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way.

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeastern Cibola County in west central New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 915 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 652 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eastern portions of the Acoma Puebloa and surrounding rural areas of Southeastern Cibola County. This includes the Arroyo Colorado and other small washes and arroyos feeding into it. http://www.weather.gov/abq/EmergencyPrepFlood
