Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...The East Mesa near Las Cruces in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. * WHEN...Until 815 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 614 PM MDT, Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall along the west slopes of the Organ Mountains have produced up to 1 inch of rain in the past hour. This will cause flooding in arroyos crossing Baylor Canyon Road, and in poor drainage areas either side of US-70 near Organ. Some locations that may experience flooding include...
