Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...North Central Grant County in southwestern New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 1045 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 846 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall of up to 0.5 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mainly rural areas of North Central Grant County. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
