Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Mescal Canyon Arroyo in Sierra County, New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 600 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Slow moving thunderstorms have produced heavy rainfall over Mescal Canyon, south of Truth or Consequences. This will result in flooding at the low water crossing on Turtleback Avenue. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 308 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Minor flooding is also possible from smaller side arroyos further south and west along Turtleback Avenue.
