* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Kings (Brooklyn) County in southeastern New York... New York (Manhattan) County in southeastern New York... Queens County in southeastern New York... Richmond (Staten Island) County in southeastern New York... * WHEN...Until 600 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 402 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen over the last hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches are expected over the area through 6pm. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Todt Hill, The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Midtown Manhattan, Huguenot, RFK Bridge, Jackson Heights, Bay Ridge, Astoria, Lower East Side, East Village, SoHo, Port Richmond, Brooklyn Heights, Tottenville, Tompkinsville, Battery Park, Park Slope, Oakwood, Upper West Side and Long Island City. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
