What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. Impacts: Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Where: A portion of central Virginia, including the following independent city, City of Lynchburg. When: Until 630 PM EDT.

What the bulletin says to do

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service Blacksburg Facebook page and on X.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following independent city, City of Lynchburg. * WHEN...Until 630 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 510 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated no additional heavy rain is expected. Streams and creeks are expected to be lowering. However, there may still be a few locations with lingering minor flooding within the City of Lynchburg. This includes the following streams and drainages... Burton Creek, Ivy Creek, Fishing Creek, Blackwater Creek, James River, Harris Creek, Flat Creek and Dreaming Creek. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lynchburg... Forest... Madison Heights...
