What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Where: Petersville Area When: Until 500 PM AKDT Wednesday.

Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Petersville Area * WHEN...Until 500 PM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 842 AM AKDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
