What the bulletin says to do

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind. The next statement should be issued Saturday morning by around 800 AM EDT.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations in Indiana... White River near or at Nora, Ravenswood, Noblesville, Indianapolis, Anderson, Centerton, and Spencer. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following river and locations in Indiana... White River at Muncie, below Eagle Valley Power Plant, and at Elliston. .Repeating rounds of showers and thunderstorms over the past 72 hours, ending at 8 AM this morning, has brought copious rainfall to eastern, northern central, and much of western Indiana. Maximum radar estimates across a swath from Clinton and Howard counties north of Indianapolis, east-southeast and southeast to Randolph and Decatur counties, show roughly six to 12.5 inches of rain has fallen! This has led to widespread flooding, some of it historic. Major flooding has occurred, is occurring, or is expected to occur on the White River at Ravenswood and points upstream. Crests downstream are currently predicted to stay under moderate flood stage as of Friday afternoon, but it will be a close call at numerous locations. More rain, on and off, is in the forecast through Sunday night. Please keep abreast of changes to the forecast and our river products for the latest. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...White River at Indianapolis. * WHEN...From late tonight to early Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 18.5 feet, Levee at Mann Road may overtop. Flooding affects area known as High Acre Manor on the southwest side. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 3:45 PM EDT Friday the stage was 13.7 feet. Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 18.1 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday morning.
