* WHAT...Flooding caused by earlier excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Southwestern Greeley County in central Nebraska... Northeastern Howard County in central Nebraska... Southwestern Nance County in central Nebraska... Southeastern Valley County in central Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of area creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is ongoing. It will take several hours for all of the excess water to recede as it drains into area creeks and rivers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 1012 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that as much as 3 to 5.5 inches of rain fell overnight into early this morning, causing mainly minor flooding issues in various locations, including water likely covering some rural gravel or dirt roads. Fortunately, little to no additional rain is expected today, but at least minor amounts of additional rain could fall tonight into Wednesday morning. This includes the following streams and drainages... West Branch Spring Creek, Wallace Creek, South Branch Mira Creek, Davis Creek, Spring Creek, North Branch Mira Creek, North Loup River, Cottonwood Creek, Dry Creek, Mira Creek, Shepherd Creek, Rock Creek and Davis Creek Reservoir Area. Some locations that could experience flooding include... Scotia, North Loup, Wolbach and Cushing, but mainly areas near these towns. As of 945 AM CDT, an automated gauge along the Mira Creek near North Loup reported a stage of 8.35 feet, just below the minor flood stage of 9 feet. Significant rises appear to have ended, but with the creek running so close to flood stage, some minor overflows into fields and low-lying areas near the creek have been reported by NWS personnel. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
