It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Central Morgan County in southeastern Ohio... * WHEN...Until 430 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of the Muskingum River at and near McConnelsville is expected through tonight. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... At 1224 PM EDT, The automated gauge at McConnelsville on the Muskingum River was reading 7.85 feet and rising. Due to the recent dam replacement, the official flood stage is no longer representative of known impacts. Flooding of areas away from the gauge can be expected at lower stages. At a stage of 7.5 feet, sections of Route 669 above Malta begin to flood along with low-lying areas near the river, including recreational boat ramps. In addition, Cottonwood Drive just below McConnelsville floods. At a stage of 9 feet, seasonal camps along the river and low sections of Route 60 above Malta flood. Additionally, homes along Cottonwood Drive may experience flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include... McConnelsville, Malta, Stockport and Eagleport. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
