* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The following areas, Central Susitna Valley, Lower Matanuska Valley, Southern Susitna Valley and Western Susitna Valley. This includes the cities of Palmer, Wasilla, Big Lake, Skwentna, Willow, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, And Petersville. * WHEN...From Tuesday morning through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Significant rainfall is expected in the Susitna Valley Monday August 3 through Wednesday August 5. Current estimates is for 48-hr rain totals to range from 3 to 5 inches in the upper Yentna, Chulitna and Susitna Basins. This will be especially impactful to erosion-prone areas (Talkeetna) and low-lying or poor-drainage areas throughout the rest of the Susitna Valley. Rivers are expected to crest Wednesday or Wednesday night, but at lower levels than the July 21-25th event. Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
