Bulletin details
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet and dangerous rip currents expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...North and east facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 4 PM ChST Saturday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long-period east to northeast swell, emanating from distant Typhoon Dolphin, continues to produce a high risk of rip currents along east-facing reefs, spreading to north-facing reefs beginning tonight, with hazardous surf also expected to develop along north and east-facing reefs tonight. As Dolphin passes the far northern CNMI, the long-period swell direction is expected to shift north over the next few days, and then northwest around midweek.
