Bulletin details

ESFSJU The National Hurricane Center issued the last advisory on Dolly, located nearly 1200 miles southeast of the local islands. This tropical wave will reach the area on Sunday and Monday. Since the system is expected to find a hostile environment, a widespread and long-lasting rainfall event is not anticipated. Instead, squally weather will bring periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall, beginning late Sunday and stretching into Monday. In general, we are anticipating rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, which will be beneficial for any areas receiving the rain. Lingering moisture from the remnants of Dolly could contribute to additional showers developing on Tuesday. The risk of flooding is low to locally medium. Areas with the drainage system clogged by death vegetation debris or urbanized areas with poor drainage could experience localized flooding. Any rainfall will be welcome, and could bring a temporary relieve to the ongoing severe to extreme drought plaguing Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. However, the rain should not be enough to end the drought. At this time, the confidence in the forecast is medium, and the users are advised to monitor the forecast in case changes are introduced. If that the case, this product will be update accordingly.
