What the bulletin says to do

Boaters on Fort Peck Lake should use extra caution since strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

* WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot temperatures with highs on today between 100 and 108 degrees. For the Lake Wind Advisory, west winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph expected. * WHERE...Central and Southeast Phillips, Central and Southern Valley, Garfield, and Petroleum Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until noon MDT Sunday. For the Lake Wind Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to 6 PM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft. Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures on Sunday morning will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Poor overnight recovery will add to heat related stress.
