Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets. These storms may produce a waterspout. A Special Marine Warning may be needed. These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these strong thunderstorms arrives. Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible, and keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

At 418 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Billy Murrell Reef to 9 nm west of Snows Cut to near Sunset Beach, moving east at 25 knots.
