Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 40 to 50 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office.

Coastal Waters of Southern Puerto Rico out 10 NM... * At 1158 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 40 to 50 knots and frequent lighting. These thunderstorms were mainly over the nearshore and offshore Caribbean waters, moving west at 15 knots. Additional thunderstorms can move from Puerto Rico towards the nearshore Caribbean waters.
