The areas affected include... Barataria Bay... Breton Sound... Chandeleur Sound... Coastal Waters from Boothville LA to Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River out 20 nm... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20 NM... Coastal waters from the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana out 20 NM... Lake Borgne... Lake Salvador and Lake Cataouatche... At 850 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located along a line extending from near Yscloskey to 21 nm east of Breton Sound, moving southwest at 15 knots. Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots, higher waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this activity passes. Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
