Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots, higher waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this activity passes. Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development. Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island Louisiana out 20 to 60 NM... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20 NM... At 1041 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located 29 nm south of Petit Bois Pass, moving east at 15 knots.
