Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Bay County Beaches. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Westerly swell over the Gulf waters this morning will combine with westerly breezes and the afternoon seabreeze to bring development of a high risk for rip currents this afternoon and evening, mainly over west-facing beaches of Gulf and Bay Counties.
