What is happening
At 501 PM PDT /501 PM MST/, a severe thunderstorm was located near Meadview, or 41 miles southeast of Overton, moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect waves on area lakes of 2 to 4 feet. Locations impacted include... South Cove and Meadview.
What the bulletin says to do
If on Lake Mead near South Cove, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
