At 746 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Altoona, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Public report of 61 mph wind gust 3 miles northwest of Mitchellville. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston, Newton, Altoona, Pleasant Hill, Windsor Heights, Carlisle, Bondurant, Saylorville, Mitchellville, Colfax, Monroe, Prairie City, Southridge Mall, Adventureland Amusement Park, Iowa Events Center, Prairie Meadows, Iowa State Fairgrounds, and Principal Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 35 between mile markers 87 and 93. Interstate 80 between mile markers 132 and 164. Interstate 235 between mile markers 5 and 14.
