What the bulletin says to do

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

At 909 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Lake Le-Aqua- na State Park to Freeport to near Forreston, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Freeport, Mount Carroll, Lena, Stockton, Lanark, Pearl City, Shannon, Nora, Buena Vista, Loran, Kent, Waddams Grove, Eleroy, Damascus, Lake Le-Aqua- na State Park, Mc Connell, Willow, Apple River Canyon State Park, and Bolton. This also includes Apple River Canyon State Park and Lake Le-Aqua- Na State Recreation Area.
