What the bulletin says to do

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office in Newport at 1-800-889-6889. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Northern Duplin County in eastern North Carolina... * Until 830 PM EDT. * At 721 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Goldsboro to 8 miles north of Mount Olive, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Kinston, Warsaw, La Grange, Mount Olive, Kornegay, Deep Run, Bowdens, Beautancus, Kenansville, Jason, Albertson, Sarecta, Faison, Pink Hill, Calypso, and Sandy Bottom.
