Seek shelter now inside an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. This storm has produced widespread destructive winds and is capable of producing destructive hail. This is a dangerous situation with winds expected to produce damage similar to a tornado. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are at an enhanced risk for damage. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. This dangerous storm is capable of producing large hail driven by severe winds! Seek shelter now inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows! If you are caught outdoors, cover your head and neck.

At 639 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles north of Owl Butte, or 29 miles northeast of Sturgis, moving southeast at 45 mph. THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR NEWELL LAKE, NEWELL. HAZARD...90 mph wind gusts and baseball size hail. SOURCE...Automated observations. IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged or destroyed. Homes and businesses will have substantial roof and window damage. Expect extensive tree damage and power outages. Locations impacted include... Newell, Castle Rock, Dears Ears Butte and Newell Lake.
