Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing dangerous hail and damaging winds. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. If you observe a tornado, hail, wind damage, or flooding, please report your observations to the National Weather Service office in Rapid City via phone, email, or social media, as soon as it is safe to do so.

Eastern Jackson County in southwestern South Dakota... Southeastern Haakon County in west central South Dakota... * Until 1215 AM MDT /115 AM CDT/. * At 1113 PM MDT /1213 AM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles southwest of Ottumwa, or 12 miles northeast of Philip, moving southeast at 45 MPH. HAZARD...Two inch hail and 60 MPH wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Kadoka, White River, Norris, Midland, Belvidere, Cedar Butte, Corn Creek, Black Pipe, Ottumwa, Swift Bear and Nowlin. This includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 149 and 174.
