For the following areas... Pamlico Sound... S of Oregon Inlet NC to Cape Hatteras NC out to 20 NM... At 203 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 10 nm north of Cape Hatteras, moving northeast at 15 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
