Waters from Ocracoke Inlet to Cape Lookout NC from 20 to 60 NM... * Until 415 AM EDT. * At 312 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 32 nm east of Atlas Tanker, moving east at 40 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to nearly 50 knots. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
