Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, small hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

For the following areas... Coastal waters from Cape Fear NC to Little River Inlet SC out 20 NM... Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm... Waters from Surf City NC to Little River Inlet SC from 20 to 60 NM... At 905 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 14 nm northeast of Wreck 33 to near Mount Dirfy's Wreck, moving east at 15 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts up to 40 to 50 knots, and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. severe thunderstorms will be near... Wreck 33 around 910 PM EDT.
